ABOUT San GROUP

San Group has its roots in the lumber industry since 1979. During this time the company has evolved from a small lumber remanufacturing facility to a multi-level forest products corporation. We focus on harvesting the highest quality Canadian timber and pride ourselves on understanding the value chain of lumber manufacturing.

Our overall ethos is centered around value-added manufacturing, developing  methods to utilize each log harvested to it’s highest degree. Value-added is a process of downstream manufacturing, our methodology may involve over 20 machine center processes to create a final product for retail distribution. In order to achieve this asset intensive process, we have invested over $200 plus million dollars into the BC forest sector. This investment includes the green field construction of a new sawmill on Vancouver Island and our flag ship Advanced Wood Value-Added Manufacturing facility located in Port Alberni.

In 2019, San Group’s owners won the highly coveted Entrepreneur of the Year award in the Natural Resources and Energy category from Ernest and Young. San Group itself won the Business in Vancouver, Exporter of the Year award (2018) and the Business Examiner Manufacturer of the Year (2020) and Business of the Year (2021) awards for the Coastal Region of British Columbia.

Importantly, we concentrate on our clients. Our 30 + years of manufacturing lumber has allowed us to understand that our clients are the most important aspect in our business. Thus, we focus on our customer’s wants and needs – quality products, timely service and relationships are our differentiation.
